In 1721 Moriatsu authored a multi-volume picture book entitled Gasen (i.e., Hold-all of Painting). Its black-and-white pictures were accompanied by written instructions on painting in the KanÅ style which was the dominant painting style at that time. Volume three included the twenty-nine pages of bird pictures shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. To see pictures of flowers included in volume two click here.
